Problem/Goal:
Customer required a system to peform pressure decay leak tests on a TIPM PCB assembly.

Resolution:
TME created a test system with a custom test fixture connected to the TME Solution. A test item is properly placed into the test fixture, and the system automatically performs a leak test by pressurizing the PCB assembly through the center connector cavity with the two other connector cavities blocked with a seal from clamping cylinders.
The leak test is performed using the test parameters entered. Results of the test are repoed to the operator with visual and audible indicators (audible for reject only) and are recorded in the Datalog on the TME Solution.
Parts that “PASS” the test are automatically marked on the side wall of the assembly with a white ink dot.
The operator removes ‘good’ parts by simply raising the safety door and removing the part
Reject parts are not marked and will be locked in the fixture and must be manually removed from the system by pressing the “STOP” button on the instrument in order to ensure separation of good and reject parts by the operator. A second press of the “STOP” button must be made to reset the instrument to the “READY” state for the next test.
A magnetic switch safety interlock has been provided along with fixture guards to prevent possible pinch points from being accessible. An ESD ground cable prevents static build up on the fixture.
